My Ensemble (OOTD): Smart Casual 2 & The Big Chop

This is the first photo I've taken of myself since my 'big chop' i.e. cutting my hair short (so that I have no more relaxed ends, thus making me 100% natural). Now, I'm still adapting to the look because it's very different and I've never worn my hair this short before, but as each day passes, I'm learning to embrace it.

One of my close friends commented: "It must really boost your self-confidence to know you don't need your hair". I guess I'm confident in my own skin anyway, so I'm not really fussed about other people's reactions. If anything, I found it liberating cutting off my tresses. For me, it's more of a healthy hair growth journey. Twelve months ago, I decided it was high time I consciously and actively start looking after the hair that naturally grows on my head. Fast forward a year on and I'm glad to say I haven't succumbed to the creamy crack that is relaxer.

My hair encounters a hell of a lot of shrinkage when washed, so it's actually much longer than it appears, but to protect it for now, I'm avoiding high manipulation/stretched styles.

Anyway, here's to all the ladies out there rocking a mini 'fro.
Here's a typical one of my 'smart casual' outfits. It's similar to the one I put together in my 'Preppy with Sperry' post, but I added some more feminine touches to this one, namely the frilly shirt, silk scarf and ballet flats.

    1. Yeah! I have many 'ugly' days but it's growing fast so I'm able to do more with it now.
