My Ensemble (OOTD): Pleats

The first time I ever wore pleats was when I was about five years old: my school uniform was a forest green colour and I had to wear a pinafore with pleat detail on the lower half. I hated it. I much preferred the pleated skirt but didn't like that too much either.

Pleats seem to have made a comeback this year and, despite not being so fond of the look as a little girl, I've become quite the convert. Pleats are feminine and, worn correctly, pretty much suits any shape and sized woman.

SHIRT: Zara | SKIRT: Forever 21 | NECKLACE: Primark | BELT: D.I.Y | SHOES: Aldo | BAG: Miss Selfridges
What I love about this skirt is that it's got a leather effect. It adds a new dimension to the look. I broke the outfit up with a belt that I made myself: I spotted the gold and black leaf buckles in a charity shop and bought some cheap black elastic to weave into the back of them from a textiles stall at my local market (...and voila!). I love this necklace too- lovely statement piece and for £5 from Primark, it's an absolute steal! Finally, I didn't want to be too matchy so teamed this ensemble with red pumps.
What styles have you been drawn to lately that you weren't such a fan of in the past?

As ever,
